AKRON, OH — High school science teacher Greg Mancuso, 42, has been placed on unpaid suspension after staying late so a 15-year-old with no home internet could finish a project that was due the next morning. Mancuso let the student use a classroom Chromebook from 3:40 p.m. until 9:02 p.m., logging six hours of unbilled time The district flagged it because the building was "outside approved supervision hours" after 4 p.m. He bought the kid a $6 sub from the gas station next door so he wouldn't work on an empty stomach A formal write-up cited "unauthorized facility usage" and "failure to submit an after-hours request form" An administrator reportedly told him the gesture "exposed the district to liability" and "encourages students to expect special treatment" Parents at the next school board meeting clapped for Mancuso so long that the board chair stopped trying to call the room back to order.
