WOMAN DETAINED AFTER BECOMING HER EX'S GRANDMOTHER'S FULL-TIME CAREGIVER BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA — Erin Castellano, 31, was briefly detained Tuesday after her ex-boyfriend discovered the home care worker who'd been looking after his 91-year-old grandmother for over a year was, in fact, his ex-girlfriend, hired through a legitimate agency without either side realizing the connection. Family members say the grandmother had raved for months about her caregiver "Erin," never once mentioning she resembled a woman the grandson had dated years earlier. She allegedly applied through a home care agency and was assigned the case legitimately She worked the role for 19 months and never missed a scheduled shift The grandmother told deputies she was the best carer she had ever had and refused a replacement Investigators confirmed the placement was random and unconnected to the prior relationship Family members say Castellano cooked the grandmother's favorite soup from scratch every Thursday Relatives said the confusion started when the grandson visited unannounced and recognized her instantly from across the kitchen. The grandmother, informed of the connection, reportedly responded by asking everyone to "please stop making this weird" and continued her physical therapy session. "I've handled family disputes over inheritance and visitation," said Deputy Carla Ibsen. "Never one where the disputed party was a caregiver everybody actually liked."
