MAN ARRESTED AFTER PROPOSING MID-ROLLER-COASTER, REFUSES TO GET OFF WHEN SHE SAYS NO Sandusky, Ohio — Brett Halloway, 31, was arrested and charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct after park security say he stopped a roller coaster mid-ride by refusing to exit his seat, insisting the ride restart so he could "finish the moment" after his girlfriend declined his marriage proposal at the peak of the first drop. Witnesses say Halloway had rigged a small ring box to his harness and pulled it out just as the coaster crested the lift hill, catching both his girlfriend and the row behind them completely off guard. Halloway allegedly held up the line for nearly twenty minutes refusing to unbuckle after she said no Witnesses say he asked the operator to "run it back" so he could try again on the second drop Park staff say his girlfriend exited the ride in tears while he remained seated, still holding the ring He reportedly told security "she just needs a second lap to think about it" Police were called after he refused three direct orders from ride operators to disembark Fellow riders described the scene as "incredibly awkward" for everyone still strapped in behind them. "In 14 years working park security, I've never had to physically remove a rejected proposal," said park security supervisor Dale Renquist. The ring box itself was reportedly unavailable for comment, currently held as evidence. He popped the question at the top, now his ride's the only thing that stopped.
