86-YEAR-OLD CHARGED WITH FRAUD FOR ENTERING SAME PIE IN CONTEST FOR 22 YEARS — "THE RECIPE NEVER CHANGED BECAUSE THE RECIPE IS CORRECT" MAPLE HOLLOW, PA — Beatrice Kolter, 86, was charged with fraud after investigators determined she had entered the identical pie into a county fair contest for 22 consecutive years while claiming it was a new creation each time.Police say Kolter: Won first place 14 times, second place 6 times, and never placed lower than third Submitted a new "original recipe" card each year with only the title changed Rotated between 22 different pie names, including "Autumn Whisper" and "Harvest Surprise" Collected an estimated $6,600 in prize money over the two decades Used the same handwritten card from 2004, which she photocopied annually Witnesses say judges had noticed a similarity for years but nobody had ever raised it. One former judge reportedly told deputies he had "assumed she just had a style." A rival baker filed the complaint after 19 years of losing."She was not sorry," said Sgt. Ann Lowry of Maple Hollow PD, a 19-year veteran. "She said the pie won every year on merit. She's not entirely wrong."Kolter was charged with fraud. The 2004 recipe card was entered into evidence.
