WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER SENDING EX 847 TEXT MESSAGES IN A SINGLE NIGHT, POLICE SAY SHE NUMBERED EACH ONE TULSA, OK — Meredith Sackler, 27, was arrested after sending her ex-boyfriend 847 individually numbered text messages over the course of one night, starting each one with a sequential tag like "247/847" so he could track his progress reading through them. The man told police he woke up to a completely frozen phone, unable to open any app until the messages finished loading. He said the numbering system made it worse somehow, because he could watch himself fall further behind as new ones kept arriving faster than he could read the old ones. Police say Sackler had approached the campaign with real organization, and recovered the following items from her phone: A running counter she kept updating manually in each message header Screenshots of her own texts saved "for the timeline later" A voice memo recorded at message 600 saying "he better be reading these" A printed transcript she had started compiling for unclear reasons A note reading "STOP AT 1000, MAKE A POINT NOT A NOVEL" "I've handled harassment complaints for fifteen years and seen plenty of excessive texting," said Detective Wallace Trent. "I've never had someone number every message like a countdown clock." The man's phone declined to comment on the backlog, though he confirmed it took most of the next day to finish reading them all.
