MOM ARRESTED AFTER TURNING A COSTCO FREEZER AISLE INTO HER PERSONAL COOLING-OFF ROOM Diana Chen told her husband she needed space. Apparently, she meant the space between bulk cod and frozen lasagna. After drinks at lunch, the Sacramento, California, mom entered Costco, got annoyed about their grocery budget and settled onto the cold floor beside the freezer doors. She parked her cart across the aisle and announced she was "locked in until further notice." An employee asked her to move. Diana said she was cooling off and would notify management when she reached a reasonable temperature. Her husband suggested they go home. She pointed at the freezer and told him the fish understood boundaries better than he did. Customers began reaching around her for dinner. Diana asked one man whether his wife also had to submit a financial proposal before buying patio cushions. He took two pizzas and retreated. Then she started opening the freezer door whenever someone tried to approach, treating it like the entrance to a private office. "Knock first. I'm processing." The manager offered a chair near the front. Diana asked whether it had the same climate control. When told it didn't, she accused him of downgrading her membership. Her refusal to clear the aisle ended in an arrest. Her husband was left with a cart full of melting groceries and the patio cushions she'd added during the argument about money. On the ride home with her sister later, Diana complained that nobody had respected her need for peace. Her sister turned down the air conditioning. "There. Executive suite."
