EX SENDS 200 "HAPPY UNBIRTHDAY" BALLOONS TO HIS OFFICE

EX SENDS 200 "HAPPY UNBIRTHDAY" BALLOONS TO HIS OFFICE Cameron Wells arrived at work to discover his breakup had occupied the reception area and most of the ceiling. His ex, Lauren Pierce of Minneapolis, Minnesota, had arranged delivery of 200 balloons reading HAPPY UNBIRTHDAY. It wasn't his birthday, their anniversary or any occasion his coworkers could reasonably be expected to endure. A receptionist called him downstairs after the second delivery. By the fourth, a client was asking whether the office had relocated behind the balloons. Cameron asked Lauren to stop. She replied that he'd always complained she didn't celebrate small things. He said he was trying to meet a payroll deadline. She sent a party emoji. Staff moved the balloons away from the entrance and began finding places to store them. One conference room became unusable. The office manager found Cameron's name on every card, followed by "Never forget who remembered." Lauren later arrived to take photographs and complained that several balloons had been deflated. Told she couldn't enter, she argued at the desk and tried to push past reception. Her refusal to leave ended in an arrest. "It was his unbirthday. I checked," she insisted. The next morning, Cameron found a single balloon tied to his chair. It was from his colleagues. The card read: CONGRATULATIONS ON TODAY ALSO NOT BEING YOUR BIRTHDAY. PLEASE KEEP IT THAT WAY. He bought the office lunch. Nobody allowed him to call it a celebration. Does a surprise stop being thoughtful the moment twenty uninvolved coworkers have to clean it up?
