Lucia Beltran, 29, was arrested Wednesday after a Hillsborough County traffic judge realized the woman standing before him — claiming to be "Lucia's twin sister Camila, here to testify on her behalf" — was wearing the exact same watch the actual defendant had worn at her arraignment six weeks earlier. Down to the scratch. Beltran had been ticketed in March for running a red light, doing 51 in a 30, and "failure to obey lawful order" after she allegedly waved at the citing officer and drove away. She did not want to appear. Instead, she allegedly arrived dressed differently — different lipstick, different earrings, hair down — walked up to the bench, and introduced herself as "Camila Beltran, Lucia's sister." She said Lucia had a "wellness emergency." The judge, identified as Judge Hollander, asked for ID. She produced Lucia's Florida driver's license with her thumb covering the photo. He asked her to move the thumb. She allegedly said: "Your Honor, the thumb is part of how I hold things." He moved on. He was about to grant the continuance. Then he glanced at the original arraignment photo and saw the watch. He looked at her wrist. He looked at the photo. The scratch matched. Hollander asked her to remove it. She allegedly said: "I borrowed it from my sister." He asked her to read the engraving on the back. She paused, looked at the ceiling, and said: "It says... 'Live Laugh Love.'"
