88-YEAR-OLD MAN CHARGED AFTER CHALLENGING A TEENAGER TO A FISTFIGHT OVER A PARKING SPOT DAYTON, OH — Frank Osborne, 88, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after deputies say he got out of his car, removed his jacket, and challenged a 17-year-old to "settle it right here" after the teen pulled into a parking spot Osborne had been waiting for at a strip mall. Deputies say witnesses described Osborne raising his fists in a boxing stance before mall security intervened. He reportedly told the teenager, "I fought in wars tougher than you, kid, let's go" Witnesses say he circled the teen's car twice before formally issuing the challenge Deputies say the teen, visibly startled, backed away and called mall security immediately He allegedly refused to lower his fists even after security arrived on scene A shopper who witnessed the standoff filmed the entire exchange on her phone Deputies say Osborne's cane, momentarily forgotten, was left leaning against his own car He allegedly told deputies afterward, "I'd have won too, don't let the age fool you" A witness who filmed the confrontation said the teenager looked less scared and more confused, unsure whether an 88-year-old man in a boxing stance was a real threat or an elaborate bit. Deputy Sergeant Alan Vickery, Metro PD, 18 years on the force, said, "We've broken up parking lot disputes before. First time one nearly became a boxing match with an octogenarian." The forgotten cane, recovered from the car, declined to comment. Some seniors circle for another spot. Frank squared up instead.
