Deputies say she worked alone over 19 days and that her husband, Gordon, 86, did not notice until he attempted to pick up a socket wrench. Talley allegedly purchased 84 tubes of industrial adhesive from a fictional hardware store, paying cash on 11 separate visits Deputies say she glued items in their exact original positions, so the garage appeared completely undisturbed The refrigerator was reportedly still running and still stocked, and could not be moved by two deputies Items secured included a 1971 push mower, a rolling toolbox, and a plastic bucket containing one dead wasp Talley told officers Gordon had spent 40 years telling her not to move anything in his garage Roughly 15 neighbors came by to test the wrench themselves, and every one of them reportedly pulled twice. "Every man on this call tried to pick something up. Every single one. She stood in the doorway and did not say a word," said Sergeant Paul Kroening, a 24-year veteran of the fictional Haven Cross Police Department. "She just let us learn." Gordon Talley has reportedly not entered the garage since. The wrench remains where it has always been. He told her never to move his things. She made absolutely certain nothing ever moved again.
