FLORIDA MAN ACCUSED OF RUNNING A LEMONADE STAND INSIDE ANOTHER RESTAURANT'S LOBBY FOR SIX DAYS

FLORIDA MAN ACCUSED OF RUNNING A LEMONADE STAND INSIDE ANOTHER RESTAURANT'S LOBBY FOR SIX DAYS

FLORIDA MAN ACCUSED OF RUNNING A LEMONADE STAND INSIDE ANOTHER RESTAURANT'S LOBBY FOR SIX DAYS CYPRESS HAVEN, FL — Randall Bickerstaff, 58, was arrested Thursday after restaurant staff say he operated a full lemonade stand inside their waiting lobby for six consecutive days before anyone successfully removed him. Employees say he set up a folding table directly beside the host stand on a Monday morning and was still there the following Saturday afternoon. Managers describe an increasingly established business: The stand included a hand-painted sign, a cash box, and a laminated price list He charged $3 a cup and accepted exact change only, posting a second sign saying so He greeted waiting customers by name after the third day, and many greeted him back He restocked ice from the restaurant's own ice machine 14 separate times He told the manager he was "generating foot traffic" and requested a revenue split When police arrived, he asked whether he could finish serving the family in line Diners waiting in the lobby reportedly defended him to police, with several telling officers the wait "always went faster with him there." "He was not a vendor. He was not an employee. He was just there, every day, selling lemonade," said restaurant manager Odell Prentice, a 19-year veteran of the location. "Six days. In our lobby." The cash box, still holding $214, declined to comment. He never once paid a dollar of rent. He built a loyal customer base regardless.
