FLORIDA WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER ATTEMPTING TO RETURN A USED HOT TUB TO LOWE'S — STILL FULL OF WATER JACKSONVILLE, FL — Brielle Castellanos, 32, was arrested Saturday morning at the Lowe's on Atlantic Boulevard after allegedly attempting to return a 6-person hot tub still completely full of water, which she had hauled into the parking lot on a borrowed flatbed trailer. According to the police report, Castellanos rolled into the contractor pickup zone at 9:14 a.m. towing the hot tub behind a rented U-Haul, with water actively sloshing out of the cover and a single rubber duck floating inside. Witnesses say she walked into the Returns desk in flip-flops, dripping wet, holding a receipt from 2019 and announcing she was "ready to be reimbursed." According to the arrest report, Castellanos gave the following explanations to staff: - She had "tried it for 4 years" and "just wasn't feeling it anymore" - She didn't drain it because "the water was part of the package" - The chlorine smell was "from a candle, probably" - A pair of men's swim trunks floating inside was "not relevant to the return" - She believed her Lowe's Advantage Card came with "a vibe-based satisfaction guarantee" Returns associate Trevor Hammond told reporters, "She handed me a receipt that was so faded I could only read the words 'PATIO' and 'THANK YOU.' She told me she had loaded the hot tub by herself using a Harbor Freight winch and 'pure determination.' Water was still pouring out of it onto the linoleum." Castellanos became combative when refused, allegedly throwing a pool noodle from the trailer at a manager and shouting that Lowe's "had lost the plot on customer loyalty." She was apprehended near the garden center, still soaking wet, attempting to push a flatbed cart full of mulch toward her vehicle "for the inconvenience." She faces charges of disorderly conduct, attempted fraud, and improper transport of liquid cargo on a public road. She is being held on $1,000 bond.
