UNLICENSED AND UNBOTHERED: MAN, 52, ARRESTED AFTER TEACHING DRIVER'S ED TO 12 STUDENTS WITHOUT AN INSTRUCTOR LICENSE OF ANY KIND Charlotte, North Carolina — Harold Finch, 52, was arrested and charged with fraud and unlicensed instruction after state officials discovered he had spent an entire spring semester teaching driver's education to 12 students at Eastview High School while holding no valid instructor certification whatsoever. Investigators say Finch printed and taped a fake "Certified Driving Instructor" certificate to his windshield, complete with a forged state seal and a signature copied from an old training manual he found online. Finch allegedly kept a full spring semester grade sheet tracking all 12 students by name and letter grade He reportedly wore a Safeway Driving School polo despite never being employed by the company Parents say he collected payment directly, in cash, for each lesson conducted State officials confirmed his certificate number did not match any record in their licensing database Students say his lessons were "genuinely thorough" and covered material beyond the standard curriculum Parents described Finch as "surprisingly competent" once the forged paperwork came to light. "In 19 years working DMV enforcement, I've never seen a fake certificate this detailed taped to a windshield," said state licensing investigator Renata Boudreaux. The forged certificate itself was reportedly unavailable for comment, currently held as evidence. He graded twelve and taught with pride, now his teaching days are pushed aside.
