LOCAL RESIDENT DANIELLE PRESCOTT, 27, WAS ARRESTED AFTER MAILING HER EX-BOYFRIEND'S CHILDHOOD DIARY, WHICH HE HAD GIVEN HER FOR SAFEKEEPING, TO HIS ENTIRE FRIEND GROUP CHAT Springfield, Illinois — Danielle Prescott, 27, was arrested and charged with harassment after police say she mailed her ex-boyfriend's childhood diary, a Sonic the Hedgehog notebook he had trusted her to hold onto during their relationship, directly to his address knowing it would be opened in front of his entire friend group. Investigators say Prescott had kept the diary safe for over a year before mailing it back the week after their breakup, timing the delivery to arrive while he was hosting his weekly friend group hangout. Prescott allegedly paid for tracked shipping specifically to confirm delivery timing The diary reportedly contained entries dating back to elementary school, including crushes and childhood grievances Witnesses say his friend group chat, "Winter's Boys," lit up within minutes of the package arriving He reportedly sent the message "everyone check the mail" moments after opening it Police were called after friends began screenshotting and circulating specific diary entries Friends described the diary as "genuinely hilarious" once they got past the initial shock of receiving it. "In 10 years working harassment cases, I've never seen a childhood diary used as a delivery weapon," said Springfield PD Officer Renee Castillo. The Sonic the Hedgehog notebook itself was reportedly unavailable for comment, currently held as evidence. She mailed his past for all to see, now she's the one who's not going free.
