PETERSBURG, FL — Julian Fontaine, 29, was arrested and charged with fraud after deputies say he listed a commercial dumpster behind a strip mall as a "cozy industrial-chic studio" on a short-term rental app, complete with staged photos and string lights. Deputies say at least two guests had already checked in before the property was reported. The listing reportedly charged $45 a night for "urban authentic living" He allegedly cleaned and lined the dumpster with a tarp and a secondhand mattress Guest reviews reportedly included one star for "smell" and four stars for "unique vibe" Deputies say he had strung actual patio lights along the dumpster's rim He allegedly told confused guests the "shared bathroom" was the gas station next door One guest reportedly paid in advance for a three-night stay before realizing the address He allegedly listed the space as having "great natural ventilation," which was accurate Total refunds owed to guests reportedly came to $135 once the listing was pulled A guest who checked in before the arrest said the photos looked "surprisingly cozy" online, which made the reality significantly more disappointing. Deputy Investigator Rachel Odom, 9 years on the force, said, "We've seen fraud in a lot of forms. First time it involved actual string lights on a literal dumpster."
